Origins

Smokestack was born Brendon Scott Thompson in Stanley, North Dakota in 1985. When he was about 9 years old his family moved to Houston, Texas where he would begin his musical journey almost failing band. He played trombone and had a shitty teacher that didn't inspire students. Had I, I mean had Smokestack heard the beauty of New Orleans Jazz and how great the trombone truly is, he probably would have stuck with it. Smokestack later developed a love for the guitar after hearing Metallica's "Fade to Black." In high school, under is government name, played in the Christian Alternate rock band Grifter (there is one live recording that won't be shared) and the Christian Metal Band Alchemist which Smokestack played with on and off in the late 90's early 00's.
